Fulcrum Associates recently received an Award of Merit from New Hampshire/ Vermont Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors for its work as design/build contractor for Henry's Collision Center in Manchester, N.H.
Henrys Collision Center, a long-time landmark at Granite Street and Allard Drive, was being displaced by the State of New Hampshire's Department of Transportation for construction of a new interchange at 1-293 and Granite Street. Following a lengthy, unsuccessful attempt to secure approvals for another site, and with a rapidly approaching relocation date, it became imperative for the owners of Henry's to undertake a comprehensive site approval simultaneously with a detailed facility design and preconstruction process.
Fulcrum Associates became involved early on, working widi owners David and Lucie Ducharme and CLD Consulting Engineers as soon as the March Avenue site was identified, and assumed a leadership role, assisting the owners in recruiting and interviewing architects and quickly adding the professionals at Sherman Greiner Halle to the hybrid design-build/construction management team. The design resulting from concepts and programming would transform Henry's from a cramped, inefficient 8,000-square-foot body shop into a state-of-the-art 25,000+ square-foot collision center.
Despite one of nhe worst winters in recent years, the Fulcrum Team's diligent management and communication of the project schedule led to a successful completion of the work with no material or labor disruptions.
Fulcrum's team, from preconstruction to delivery, was led by director of project planning Jim Pereira, project executive Jeff Luter, project superintendent Jeff Beal, and senior estimator Marc Jobin.
